Apply These Books to Your Life to Become Your Best
I’ve read a couple of books in my past that have contributed to how I do this thing called “life.”
From understanding how habits work to learning about investing to improving your lifestyle to dealing with your anxiety and mindset, below you’ll see a versatile list of books you can start reading to improve your overall wellbeing.
1) The Practice: Simple Tools for Managing Stress, Finding Inner Peace, and Uncovering Happiness
I discovered this book in 2020, during the pandemic. Actually, I discovered a lot during this time, who didn’t? But this book helped me reverse unnecessary stress and shift my mindset to feel better on a daily basis. I like how Barb Schmidt explains in a simple guideline how to find that inner peace you’re desiring during times of stress and anxiety. It is literally a tool book that you can go back to to make a situation better.
2) Change Maker: Turn Your Passion for Health and Fitness into a Powerful Purpose and a Wildly Successful Career
Change Maker is another step-by-step guide to follow when you’re trying to pursue your business while discovering your values and strengths. The book will help you narrow down a lot because we know it can get overwhelming when trying to start a business or level up a business. Learn who your audience is and how to cater to them. Learn how to maintain your business and reputation while maintaining your sanity. If you’re in the health and fitness industry, you’ll enjoy this gem by John Berardi, PhD, who is a well-known and respected figure in the industry. Even if you’re in a different industry trying to pursue your business, you’ll still find helpful tips you can apply.
3) The Introvert Entrepreneur: Amplify Your Strengths and Create Success on Your Own Terms
If the last book really resonated with you but you still have some personal feelings holding you back, then this one is for you! Have you ever felt like no one understood you and why it was harder for you to pursue your business? It wasn’t because of money, or the knowledge you lacked, it was way more personal. It was because you are more introverted and felt this trait of yours held you back from doing all the things that entrepreneurs are expected to do such as networking, exposing yourself on social media, public speaking, meeting new clients, and more. I was so relieved to learn about this book because I finally felt seen and believed that what I wanted to do was possible despite my introverted personality. Read this to learn what your strengths are and understand that you don’t have to be an extrovert to be successful. In fact, I discovered this book by Dr. Gabrielle Fundaro, CHC, someone I really respect along with many others in the nutrition science field. For her to be successful, and express herself as an introvert, made me feel like it was possible. You are not alone.
4) Rich Dad, Poor Dad
As a young, high school student with already an entrepreneur mindset, Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki was the perfect introduction to learning how to invest in real estate and why it is so important to pursue passive income. I knew from a young age that I did not want the typical 9–5 work-life. Instead, I wanted a bigger foundation that can support me and my family financially without the stresses of working for another company or boss and relying on paycheck to paycheck. You will also learn about accounting and how to apply it to your everyday finances. It is a must-read if you want to pursue passive income and invest in real estate, but also learn how to manage your money which they do not teach you in school.
5) Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones
A must-read if you want to learn how to form good habits. James Clear breaks down how to in such a simple way and then he makes you realize why it works. The book is popular for a reason. You can easily apply it to your everyday life because his strategy is realistic and doable. I’ve even written an article about Identity-Based Habits which he points out and goes over in more detail. There’s a lot to learn here so do yourself a favor and grab a copy!
6) How to Do the Work: Recognize Your Patterns, Heal from Your Past, and Create Your Self
This one is all about how to get unstuck because of old patterns due to how you were conditioned in the past and set yourself free for a better life. Dr. Nicole does such a wonderful job in the book because it really does feel like she is talking to you. Everything she goes over is relatable. She talks about past trauma, small or big, to the conditioning we go through growing up, why we are the way we are now, and how to be more self-aware to prevent negativity and create more joy in our lives by knowing how to respond and regulate our emotions better. If you’re just starting your healing process or are already in the process, you need to add this gem to your routine.
7) A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose
If you’ve read The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, then you’re going to enjoy A New Earth . In fact, I kind of enjoyed this one more than The Power of Now. The author goes over how ego plays a role in our lives, especially subconsciously, and how it can contribute to a lot of our frustration. He explains how these stresses in life are so unnecessary due to the ego and once you learn how to detach from it, you’ll be more free from anger, unhappiness, jealousy, and sadness. It is really eye-opening.
